5 The Partiality Problem

However, the buck-passing account might also have advantages over the fitting-attitude account. In particular, buck-passers might be thought better placed to solve a different problem for norm-attitude accounts: the partiality problem. In this section, we explain this problem and an attractive response which the buck-passer can make, which might seem unavailable to our fitting-attitude account. We then argue that in fact our fitting-attitude account can provide a parallel response. So the partiality problem does not offer any advantage to buck-passers.
