IX. You Make the Call

If you’re like me, then perhaps you might hate talking on the telephone. I do, and it doesn’t matter if it is a land line or cell phone, I just don’t care much for it. But one of the amazing strides of genealogy advances and the internet these days is that you can contact people from all over the United States, or even all over the world, through email and other chatting platforms.

So, one of my most important tips would be to follow leads, even if they seem remote. Follow them down, to see if they lead to anything. Some of the most important discoveries that I have made have been when I had plenty of doubts and thought “eh, should I really track this down? It’s probably a waste of time.” But I had this nagging feeling that maybe it could turn out to be something. And in many cases, the feeling ended up being right.
