Chapter 9

Hugging Stoney, Asad didn’t want to let her go. He’d contacted his pilot, Barry, who was on his way to the landing strip. His room was at the W Hotel, and he loved the jet setting life that he lived working exclusively for Mr. Greer. Now, it was a family emergency, so the atmosphere was different.

“I’m sending for you as soon as you’re cleared to leave the state.” He buried his face in her neck and took in a deep breath.

Stoney didn’t know what to say. “It will be temporary, baby.”

Looking down at her, he shook his head. “What do you not understand, Stoney Malone? I want you there with me permanently.”

Shaking her head, she felt like he was forcing her. “Now isn’t the time to talk about this, Asad.”

“Is it about your business or me?”

“Look, get to your sister, and we’ll discuss it later.”

“You’re avoiding…”

The dark colored Sedan pulled up, and Asad knew that it was Barry. Nodding, he pulled Stoney close. “We’ll talk later, baby.”

With a nod, she didn’t want him to go, but she knew he had to. “I’ll come to you as soon as I can, papas.”

“Okay, mamas. I love you.” He pulled away from her and walked backwards to the jet not taking his eyes off her.

“I love you too. Have a safe flight, bae.”

After blowing her a kiss, he waved, turned, and boarded the jet.

“Girl, how ‘bout I found out where Tylea live at,” Kaya told Stoney over the phone.

“How?”

“Small world. One of the chicks I been training brought her name up. She was asking me who I know out here. That bitch stay in the same complex as her ass.”

“Word?” Rubbing her hands together, Stoney smiled slyly.

“Let’s get into the details later.”

“Come over when you get off, boo.”

“A’ight.”

“That funky, drunk bitch stay in building F.”

“Okay, but do you know which apartment?”

“All I know is she stay in building F.

Stoney sat back in her seat. “I don’t see her car anyway. We’ll just wait. I wonder if she’s still 1ancing’ at Magic City.”

“Fuck that bitch. I can’t believe anybody who was blessed to be your friend could fuck that up. You’re a real one.”

“You’re a real one too, Kaya. I’m so thankful for you.”

“Same.”

They pounded each up other up.

“How’s Asad’s sister?”

“She’s okay. She’s in rehab for real now.”

“Good for her. That shit ain’t no joke. That’s why I don’t do nothin’ but smoke and drink a lil’ bit.”

“That’s definitely me. I dealt with a mother with the same habit. Now, I can see why Asad connects with her. He wants his sister to have that kind of strength. He has to understand that everybody’s journey won’t be the same. Aaliyah gotta really be ready to stop using.”

Sitting up in her seat, Kaya was listening to Stoney, but she spotted Tylea’s car pulling up. “There go that bitch.”

Stoney got out of Kaya’s whip and walked over to Tylea’s car. Instantly, Tylea’s face showed her feelings. The anger was apparent as she opened her car door and stepped out.
