Nola sat on the couch relaxing with Maci sitting on her stomach when she received the call from London inviting her to the party. She wasn’t sure how she felt, the only thing that she knew for sure was that she was definitely surprised. Nola placed Maci in the playpen with her toys while she rushed around the bedroom packing her baby bag and getting dressed.

Nola threw on a black body con dress with a pair of Tory Burch sandals then she grabbed a cute pink and white striped cotton Ralph Lauren shirtdress to dress Maci in. Once Nola pulled the matching Ralph Lauren socks onto her feet, they were ready to go. Maci sat in the middle of the bed cooing and chewing on her fists while Nola scanned the bag one final time to ensure that she had everything she needed.

“Where y’all going all fine and shit?” Terrance startled her, sneaking up from behind and grabbing her waist.

“Oh my God!” Nola gasped and placed her hand over her heart. “I told you to stop doing that. You almost gave me a heart attack.”

“My bad,” Terrance chuckled. “But that ass was looking good in this dress.”

“Well thank you,” Nola spun around and placed a kiss on his lips. “I thought you were working a double today?”

“I was but the hospital wasn’t busy today so I decided to come spend some time with my girls instead of working late,” Terrance kissed her. “So cancel wherever y’all were going so we can go to dinner or something.”

“I’m sorry, I can’t cancel my plans,” Nola waivered. “Maci’s dad got out of jail today so his family is throwing him a little party and they invited us.”

“Well why they can’t just come pick her up?” Terrance instantly became perturbed.

“Relax Terrance,” Nola attempted to quell his feelings and change her plans to only go for a little while and drop off Maci since he got off of work early. “You know that’s also my family. Even if I don’t stay for the entire event, the least I can do is take Maci and show my face.”

“I mean this sounds like some bullshit to me,” Terrance roared, causing Maci to burst out in tears.

“You need to calm the fuck down, especially with Maci here,” Nola expressed, picking Maci up from the bed and rubbing her back to soothe her.

“I’m sorry for yelling, Nola. But put yourself in my shoes. You already talked to the nigga on the phone twice a week and I never complained, I supported you in fostering their relationship.”

“Now you doing too much, Terrance,” Nola scrunched up her face. “I said hello to the nigga and put Maci on the phone for a few minutes. Half of the time, you were sitting right there so you clearly know that there wasn’t anything going on. We were both paying each other dust and like I said, that is my family and I attend all other family functions, why would this one be any different?”

“That still doesn’t mean I want you going over there,” Terrance barked.
