Evie

Ihad been working at the club for almost a week now. I loved the environment because it wasn’t like a typical strip club. I could tell that Deuce took pride in his establishment. He was also a fair and kind boss. He lined my schedule up so that I was able to work with Ash. I wasn’t trying to make friends at this place since I was on a mission and didn’t need to get distracted.

“What you over here looking off into space for?” Deveney asked.

“Girl just thinking that’s all,” I clarified.

“I bet you over here thinking about my brother, ain’t ya?”

“I ain’t stunnin’ ya brother.”

“You can save them lies for somebody else.”

“You gotta be stopped because why you tryna play match maker and he got a girlfriend?”

“Cause that bitch ain’t right for him but I gotta let him figure that out on his own. You’re just what he needs to see that light.”

“Girl, I ain’t pushing up on your brother or nothing like that. I’m here to make money and carry my ass home.”

“I hear ya, but make sure you be prepared.”

“For what?”

“Anything can happen,” she winked before she left.

I finished wiping down the tables before I moved to my next task. I counted off all the liquor bottles in the liquor closet before heading out. Rounding the corner from the back, I bumped into somebody, causing me to stumble back and hit the floor. I was busy going over my paperwork, so I wasn’t watching where I was going.

“I’m sorry about that… I wasn’t looking,” I apologized.

“Watch where you’re going next time,” the girl snapped.

“I said I was sorry… it was an accident, damn.”

“Aye China, where you went?” Deuce questioned as he came around the corner. “Evie, you okay?”

Grabbing ahold of his hand as he held it out to help me up. That man was beautiful on a different level. His full beard and braided hair was groomed to perfection. His skin was the color of mine, but his dark and mysterious eyes pulled me in. Then he had those kissable ass lips that I just knew had a bitch in love off his kisses.

“Yeah I’m good,” I picked up my clipboard. “It was an accident… I was making sure I had done everything I needed.”

“It’s cool… shit happens,” he reassured. “Ooh, where are my manners? Evie, this my girl China. China, this is Evie.”

“Hey,” China dryly replied.

“Hi,” I gave her ass the same energy. “Deuce, I’ll have the clipboard by the bar once I’m done with the checklist.”

“Cool.”

I left because I could feel the anger coming from China. I don’t know why the fuck she was even mad when I had already apologized before Deuce came over there. I could hear Deveney’s words in my head about me thinking about her brother. I could see why she didn’t care for her brother’s girl because with my little interaction, I didn’t like her ass either. I made my way to Ash’s area in the back once I was done with my work.
