“You should have been a fly on the wall, Cooper. She was argumentative and just full of hate and discontent. I can’t wait to see Mr. Jensen and give him a piece of my mind,” Gabe said.

Cooper chuckled. “Sounds like the only thing missing was pointed shoes and a broom.”

“You know … I didn’t want to say it, but I did notice a wiry black hair growing out of her chin and a wart on her nose,” Gabe said laughingly.

The two men both erupted into laughter, Gabe grabbing his side.

“I’ve had the worst luck with women. No wonder the world is going to hell in a handbasket.”

“Hell in a handbasket, sir?” Cooper said, apparently not getting the reference.

“My mom used to say that. It just means there are a lot of crazy and evil people in the world. I think I had lunch with both of them today!”

“Yes, sir. It surely does sound like that,” Cooper said, chuckling out loud. “Have you given up, sir?”

“Given up on what?”

“Finding Mrs. Right.”

“I don’t know, Cooper. It’s discouraging. I think I’ll take another long walk. It always helps me see things clearly. Don’t hold dinner for me. I have a pastrami sandwich that I didn’t finish,” he said smiling.

He grabbed a light jacket, and out the door, he went.
