BOB TAYLOR FINISHED HIS FIRST WEEK OF WORK just before dark on Friday night. He had parked his delivery truck inside the Marco Island Seafood Company’s secure chain link fenced lot and he was headed home in his personal truck from Marco to Goodland. A hunger pang struck and Bob realized that he hadn’t any lunch except for six Lance peanut butter crackers and a Dr. Pepper. He was famished and he wanted to go out tonight and have a decent meal. TV dinners and cold-cut sandwiches hadn’t cut it for the last four nights. It had, nonetheless, been an interesting week and he was settling in to this new line of work, but he had been instructed that it was time to pick up the pace in a more intriguing secret facet of his life.

Bob stopped in at Molly’s Place first to see if Sam and Roger were already there. Bob was right handed so he was wearing the pistol above his ankle on the right side of his lower right leg. It was, he thought, a little uncomfortable but he would get used to it. He also told himself, it won’t do me a damn bit of good if I ever need it and it’s here in a damned dresser drawer!

The Gator Hook Lounge was already busy when they arrived because a popular band was slated to perform Friday and Saturday nights. The trio managed to find an empty four top and glanced around for a waitress. Seeing Lindy was busy with a large noisy party Bob got another waitress’s attention.

“Hi, guys. How are y’all tonight? I’m Judy and I imagine your names are ‘Thirsty.’”

“We sure are, Judy. We’ll take a pitcher of Bud to get started.”

Sam, took a long sip of his beer, and started the conversation. “I haven’t heard much about Sharie Wilker’s abduction and killing lately. Either in the paper or on television, the story doesn’t seem newsworthy anymore or it seems to have lost its luster for the news media.”

Roger added, “Last I heard, from what the sheriff
