Black woke up the next morning to an empty bed and Mila was nowhere in sight. His phone was ringing off of the hook, but he chose to ignore the calls and look around the house for her. After his search came up empty, Black snatched the phone off of the dresser to answer for Mason.

“Nigga! I been calling you all fucking night. When them shots let off last night, we lost Mila. Her mom and Pop are losing their shit,” Mason vented.

“Mila is alright,” Black replied, trying to calm the family down.

“How the fuck do you know she’s alright?”

“I dropped her off last night,” Black lied. “She fell and twisted her ankle when everybody took off. Her phone was broken, and I didn’t know where the fuck y’all were.”

“How did you drop her off when I’m at her parents’ house right now? She ain’t here!” Mason was growing irritated.

“I put her up in one of our new apartments yesterday after work before I knew she was your cousin. I am positive that she is going to show up. I’m going to stop by there right now to see if she’s there,” Black grabbed his keys off of the counter.

“Nah! Don’t worry about that, here her ass comes walking through the door. Got my mama and her mama over here about to meet an early grave. I’ll hit you later,” Mason disconnected the call before Black could reply.

Black was happy as hell that Mila popped up, but he was lowkey taken aback since she left before he woke up. Quickly shaking those thoughts off, he showered and got his shit together for his weekend in Jacksonville. He was supposed to already be there, but after getting wrapped up with Mila, he was going to be late. Once Black crossed the threshold, he had flashbacks of the two of them groping each other the entire time he tried to open the door. This might have been premature, but Black knew that she could have him wrapped around her finger if she would allow him to get close to her. Last night, that boujie demeanor was out of the window, and she was everything in the sex department.

Black went on with his plans since he didn’t have a way to get in touch with Mila. He knew that he would see her in the office when he returned on Wednesday. He hopped on the road to Jacksonville and went straight to the apartment complex for a walkthrough when he touched down. Black spent the next few days meeting with a few different contractors to assist them with remodeling the property, so they could have the units available for rent asap. The entire time that he was out handling business, all he could think about was Mila.
