5.3. Objections Concerning the Group Skopoi

As stated above, the skopoi of groups on a stoic virtue epistemic model would be true beliefs, often true beliefs for the group itself, not just for its members. The target would be unreachable if groups were unable to form beliefs. K. Brad Wray has argued that groups cannot have beliefs, only acceptances. He argues this on the basis of a distinction be makes between belief and acceptance:

The foregoing analyses suggest that belief and acceptance differ in the following respects:

1. you can accept things you do not believe, whereas you cannot believe what you do not accept;
