Chapter 21

Posie~

Even though I’d seen the destructive wave miles away, I had still made the decision to get into the water, knowing that I was going to be way in over my head, and I was.

I was way in over my head.

Letting Killian summon me up to his office today had been proof enough that I was already falling hard and fast for the man. I had suspected it early on when he had begun talking to me, but between last night and earlier today, there was no doubt about it.

“You actually went to his office and let the man go down on you during business hours?” Lennon asked, and it was rather comical how shocked she sounded. Lennon was usually very blunt, and I couldn’t think of a single topic that embarrassed her, but she was sounding a little flustered right now.

“Hey, you’re the one that told me to go for it,” I reminded her.

“Yeah, I was,” she chuckled. “I just didn’t expect you to go for it all the damn way, Pose.”

“I know,” I muttered sheepishly. “It’s just…God, Lennon, I feel high. I actually feel like I’m out of my mind on drugs here.”

“Are you?”

“No!” I laughed. “You know better.”

“I don’t know,” she chuckled again. “You’re over there letting men go down on you at work, so who knows what you’re up to these days.”

That made me smile. “It’s not men. Just one man.”

“You sound really happy, Posie,” she said softly. “Do you realize that?”

I let out a deep sigh. “It’s…it’s different with him, Lennon,” I said, sounding like every misguided love-sick fool out there. “I…he just did…he did everything right last night, Lennon. I don’t know how he did it, but he did.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, I tried to tell him about the attack, but he immediately stopped me, telling me that he didn’t want my secrets. He said that we all had them, and he didn’t care how dark mine were because he’d want me no matter what.”

“He said that?” she asked, her voice serious.

“Yeah, and then…well, when I told him I had certain conditions while having sex, he just asked what they were. He didn’t try to argue with me or convince me to let him lead, nothing. He just accepted what I had offered.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

“What else?” she asked in a voice that I knew all too well.

“I…I think that he might suspect that something happened to me,” I finally admitted.

“Why do you think that?”

“Because he kept talking to me during sex, and it wasn’t dirty talk,” I told her. “Well, not regular dirty talk.”

“First of all, there is no such thing as regular dirty talk,” she replied. “If it’s being done right, there’s nothing regular about it.”

I chuckled. “Point taken.”

“Second, what was he saying?”

“He kept making me say his name,” I told her.

“A lot of guys do that,” she stated easily. “I think it’s an ego thing. It’s like they’re terrified that your mind might start thinking about the latest model to pop up on your social media feed or something.
