2.2.2 Finite Ground Plane

In this section, the perfect E-boundary condition is imposed by making the ground plane finite. The ground plane is taken as rectangular sheet (1.45λ × 1.025λ) at the height of −0.15λ, as shown in Fig. 5. The effect of finite ground plane is that the radiation pattern of the single dipole antenna gets changed. Figure 14 shows the radiation pattern of a single dipole antenna with finite ground plane of rectangular shape. The antenna impedance, Re(Z) = 62.7638Ω for Im(Z) = 0, as shown in Fig. 15. The return loss obtained is shown in Fig. 16. It can be observed that the resonant frequency obtained is 2.752 GHz. The corresponding 3-D radiation pattern is presented in Fig. 17. It can be observed that the pattern is cut below ground plane .
