Price

It had been another week and Kendall was back at the hospital with me. Cassie had been doing well. They planned to wake her up tomorrow. There was barely any swelling, only broken bones, the small bleed due to the liver laceration and the head trauma. I was nervous as to how she would react when she was awake. According to the scans, she hadn’t suffered any brain damage. Although there was a small bleed when she got here, nothing became of it. I knew I owed that all to God, because they couldn’t explain it.

When Kendall had first gotten here, I’d picked her up and spun around with her. This past week had been torture without her. Just sitting up here by myself made the time seem like it was at a stand-still. While I’d talked to Kendall every day and had even had phone sex with her late one night, it seemed that only made it move slower. I was craving her so badly.

I told her that we would go to the hotel room tonight for a while, then come back and wait for the visitation at six tomorrow morning. The last visitation for the night was at ten. She’d stared at me seductively when I’d said so. Since Cassie had been doing well, I’d leave briefly to go take a shower or get something to eat. She was getting further and further out of those woods. The true test would be tomorrow when they woke her up. I was scared and nervous, but excited and anxious all at the same time.

After the last visitation for the night, I told the nurses that I was going to rest and would be back around four the next morning. They assured me that they would call if anything changed. Kendall and I walked hand in hand to the parking garage. She seemed nervous, because there was a slight tremble in her hands. Now wasn’t the time to be nervous. She’d been talking big shit over the phone, so it was time to show and prove. I was beyond ready.

The hotel was fifteen minutes away, but it seemed like I had to drive to Beaumont. I was entirely too anxious. “How was the drive, Kendall?”

“It was easy until I got to this Houston traffic. I hate that the most about Houston.”

“Yeah, me too. You nervous?”

She smiled slightly. “A little bit.”

“You got a lot of shit talking to back up, so I would be nervous too if I were you.”

“Price! Really? That only made it worse.”

I laughed. “You ain’t got nothing to be nervous about. For real. All you gotta do is just be there. I’ll handle the rest.”

Her face turned red as I rested my hand on her thigh. Damn, I wanted her so bad. I planned to take my time, though. Sleep was something I could get anytime. While she was here, every moment that I wasn’t seeing Cassie, I wanted to show her how much I cared and
