“I’m on my way, coming up on your back.” This was more than likely a way of keeping us busy so that Vercin could try to get out from the other side. “Ceric, Cassius, stay here. Bjarni, you’re with me,” I state as I start to make my way through the sewer line. I’m getting really tired of this game. I just want an end to this war we have going between the Keres and the Elementals.

I know the time will come when our women will be able to prevent the change of all our Elementals until they find their mates, that after so many centuries, we finally got the hope that so many before us believed in, and to think that hope came in the form of our very own mates.

“Going somewhere?” we hear Wulf state. I should have sent Gunner with him, because if it is Vercin trying to make a run for it, there is no way Wulf will be able to stop him alone, not that Gunner would either, but at least it would slow him down.

“Motherfucker,” Bjarni growls as we feel a peak of energy and then a tremor. I pick up my speed, trying to get to Wulf as soon as possible. A minute later, we feel the ground heave, and I know that Wulf retaliated, as the peak of energy was much higher than the previous one. I come around a bend and encounter one of Vercin’s generals starting to bend fire, which I’m guessing he’s thinking of attacking Wulf with again.

I take my eyes off him and look over at Wulf, and then my anger rises; son of a bitch has wounded him. I can’t see the blood, but I can tell by the way Wulf is holding his body that he’s hurt. I’m about to stop the asshole, when I see more Keres coming out of the tunnel that they built. Well, isn’t this cosy and bad luck for them, because they have just found me in a fucking bad mood.

I throw out my hand towards the tunnel where the Keres are coming through and the other hand towards the asshole who thinks he can hurt one of my men. “Oh, shit,” I hear Bjarni swear as I throw out a burst of energy. The explosion that follows is intense, but after my burst of fire, I immediately place a barrier of water before myself and Bjarni, covering the exit behind us, and a barrier before Wulf and behind him, covering the exit on that side.

“My hearing will never be the same,” Bjarni mutters as he rubs his ears. “Fuck, Draco, warn a man when you’re about to do shit like that.”

I look towards the tunnel and see that it has collapsed. There will be no more movement from them for a while coming from there. Then I look towards where the Keres was and see that he’s been pulverized, as Ceric and Cassius would say. I quickly make my way towards Wulf when I see him leaning against the wall of the sewer.
