IT WAS A LITTLE OVER an hour later when Henry heard the chop-chop-chop sound of helicopter blades, and making his way to the door, gawked out at the sleek, shiny white-and-black helicopter with an abbreviated American flag on the side, landing in the middle of his yard. A helicopter...in his yard!

The machine’s blades ceased whirling, and silence recaptured the day. Justin, alone, a large leather shoulder bag hanging from his shoulder, waved at Henry as he strolled towards the cabin.

“You got here faster than I thought you would,” Henry commented to the paleontologist. “Nice ride. It had better not leave ruts in my yard.” Henry hobbled back into the house, leaving the door and screen door open for Justin, and reclaimed his chair. His wounds and the events of the morning were catching up to him, and suddenly he didn’t feel so good. He had to sit down before he collapsed. He sympathized with Oscar. They were both unwell.

“I thought you said the new helicopters hadn’t arrived yet.”

“They flew in right after I talked to you. Uncanny timing, I thought. I decided to try one out. It beat driving here in my car. More fun, too. My fellow scientist and pilot extraordinaire, Simon Bridges, flew out one of the helicopters from New York, got here before the other one, and brought me here. He’s still out in the helicopter checking things out, and insists on staying with it to be sure nothing happens to it. No one bothers it. Ha, as if anyone would in your backyard. He’s very protective of his new toy. Also, he’s still learning some of its advanced tricks.”

Henry glanced out the window. “I must say, that’s some machine. So sleek. Futuristic.”

“Yep, the newest Airbus H160, and it’s equipped with everything my billionaire boss could buy and we’ll ever need for anything. Travel, exploration or even dinosaur hunting,” Justin replied, as he joined Henry in the house. “Jeff Smith spares no expense when it comes to his toys, and this one, and the second one we have at the park now, are the most technically sophisticated of their class – with secret extras commissioned by the Institute. I can’t tell you what they are, or I’ll be killed. I can now say with certainty, the ride’s smooth, the noise is extremely hushed, and the helicopter’s maneuverability is a wonder. I’m taking lessons and learning how to fly it.” A smug smile.

“Good for you. Next time I need a ride anywhere far away, I’ll call you.”

“And I will take you. I should have my pilot’s license by Christmas. Bridges has been giving me lessons.” Justin must have seen the dinosaur sleeping on the kitchen floor, because his eyes went directly to it. “Is it alive?”

“Barely. I think he’s sleeping, or I hope so. His injuries look to be serious, though. I’m worried about him.”

“The helicopter arriving didn’t wake it?”

Henry glanced over his shoulder at the motionless dinosaur. “No, the arrival didn’t wake it. You’re right about how quiet the modified H160s are.
