Ezra and Ron with the help of Jerry got the snowmobile free from its icy prison within a half-hour. While Ezra went back to the garage to retrieve the Jump It box, the other two finished clearing the sled off.

When Ezra returned with the battery box in the sled, they were ready to give it a try.

“I brought a can of starter fluid too. I figure we need to use all the advantages we have right off the bat.” Ron lifted the cowl and stepped back; he really didn’t know anything about engine mechanics of the machine and gave Ezra all the room he needed by sitting on the driver’s seat.

“Give it a try, Ron,” Ezra suggested.

Nothing.

Ezra attached the jumper cables to the battery and gave the carburetor another blast of starter spray, then nodded to Ron. The sled chugged then caught and after a gentle encouragement from the throttle, the sled ran smoothly.

“Okay!” he exclaimed. “Jerry, take the Jump-it to the kitchen where it will stay warm. We might need it to start the other sled, but we will deal with that later. Right now, Ron and I have a mission. I’m going to take the snowmobile and towing sled over to the garage and load up the gas cans for Jake.” He looked over at Ron. “And I will be right back for us to load our…passenger.”
