The Teeny Tiny Minke Whale

Minke whales are one of the smallest species of whales on the East Coast. They get to be twenty-eight feet long, which seems big to me, but in the whale world, that’s pretty small. But don’t let their small size fool you. They are active and very smart and know exactly what they are doing.

The big whales don’t scare them at all. They just go right out and swim where they want, making very loud sounds.

Minke whales make very loud sounds. I read this one place where they said they can scream as loud as a plane taking off. They are also very powerful, so it doesn’t matter that they are small.

I plan to see them when I’m older. I think I’d like to have my own boat so I can go see the whales whenever I want to.
