Technology: Although explicit technology topics were raised in interview feedback (i.e., cloud, honeypots, endpoint detection, SIEMs, data engineering, unsupervised vs. supervised ML), it was notable that their direct appearance was muted in surfaced gap-prescription themes. This does not imply technology is unimportant to CSDS best practices but rather that practitioners seemed to indicate that technology is an enabler and that organizational framing and process alignment goals take precedence. This suggests technological solutions are viewed as the outcome of organizational direction and process goals, rather than a primary driver. Given the preponderance of engineering-driven approaches in the broader security field, the muted focus on technology was both surprising and laudable.
