CHAPTER 12

Aiden

Ihad been with Aurora for three days and left her earlier in the morning. I’d showered her with romance and gotten to know her on a deeper level than I wanted. In three days, I learned more about my woman than I had in the eight months, and it had me wanting to move faster with her. However, I had to get back to my work life, and so did she. I needed to find a way to get us together again for days because I was attached.

It was nine in the morning when I pulled up to my construction site in East Los Angeles. I looked at the building and realized how far this project had come. When I was contracted for the job, it was nothing but a dirt lot, but now it was a three-story building. Between the homeless trying to sleep on-site and the protesters every week, my men did what they had to and got the job done. The place was now starting to look more and more like a medical building.

They had done such a good job that I was going to tell my HR team to give them all a holiday bonus.

I grabbed my coffee and stepped out of my car. I looked around and realized there were no protesters. I had to smile because usually, Amelia would be on my ass about how much of a drug dealer I was. Not this morning. I walked across the street and my smile immediately vanished when I saw Amelia standing in front of my building. She had her arms crossed and her eyes were pierced on me. I was hoping she was not here to argue. I had paid my dues, so our beef should be squashed.

“What do you want, Amelia? I already wrote your community two checks,” I said as I approached her.

“I know, and that’s what I am here to talk about,” she responded as I approached her.

“Well?” I asked, sounding impatient.

“I didn’t come to argue and fight. I wanted to come to you as a woman and out of respect for my twin sister to say I apologize for harassing you and your workers and for calling you a drug dealer. My sister told me who you are, and I finally sat down and read up on you. You’re not the bad guy.”

“I am glad you finally know the real me. I’m falling in love with your sister, and I don’t want to be fighting with you because I know I am going to be with her for a long time.”

“I understand. So I will not disrupt your workplace anymore. And thank you for what you are doing for the community.”

I nodded.

“Take care of my sister, Aiden. She is a good woman and she deserves the world.”

“You don’t have to worry about your sister. She is in good hands.”

Amelia and I shook hands.

She laughed.

“What’s funny?” I asked.

“I never thought I would ever be shaking hands with you. But I’m happy the beef is over.
