You can add a few peeled prawns (shrimp) and/or shelled mussels to this, too, if you want to be particularly fancy.
Daily grined
Unlike humans, cats donât really chew their food. They use their teeth to tear at their prey and their little rough tongues like rasps to get the meat off the bone, and then they often swallow the pieces whole. Their jaws donât really move from side to side, but the strong down bite makes it easier to hold onto their prey.
Make it fast!
Iâve been cooking for my cat and my dogs using a pressure cooker for a few years now, and I canât believe it took me so long to discover the near-miracle of this piece of equipment, which can transform the cheapest, toughest cuts of meat into melting tenderness in half an hour or so. It means I can make a monthâs worth of meals for the freezer in just a couple of hours.
I suppose pressure cookers used to give me the fear because they reminded me of the ancient one that used to scream rather terrifyingly on my grandmotherâs stove when I was growing up. I was quite certain it was going to explode and take the roof off. Of course, it never did. Then a friend, food writer Catherine Phipps, wrote an excellent book, The Pressure Cooker Cookbook: 150 Simple, Essential, Time-Saving Recipes, and I instantly became a convert. I use it when I am cooking for humans, obviously, but itâs a great time-saver when Iâm cooking for my animals too. If youâre a bit timid about giving it a go, Iâd encourage you to try one out â a basic one is fairly inexpensive and will do the job perfectly, and you can always find near-new used ones on eBay.
