WESTIN

Afriendly beta woman in a green uniform greeted us once we got to the front of the line.

“Welcome to Sol! We need identification for all the travelers today.” Her friendly gaze lingered on me for just a moment before taking the documents from Henry.

The minutes ticked by as we waited for her to return.

“What’s taking so long?” I asked after ten minutes had gone by.

“I’m not sure,” Henry said carefully. “I usually fly. This is probably normal for a car of five people.”

I felt like he was saying the words to placate me, or maybe to convince himself.

The frustrated and anxious scents of my alphas intensified as the minutes ticked by. Finally, the agent returned, but this time she was joined by two male beta guards. They stood behind her, content to let her do the talking, but I wondered why she felt the need to bring them with her.

“We need to talk with Ms. Anderson for a moment in private before you all continue,” the female guard said. Her voice was still light, but there was a tightness in her smile as she glanced back at my alphas.

“Westin is our pack’s omega,” Henry said, his hand tightening around mine. “We would like to stay together.”

“I understand that,” the woman said. “However, we do have the right to conduct private interviews with anyone who wishes to enter Sol province.”

Henry was quiet, so I knew the woman must be correct.

“Can I ask why you want to meet with me?” My mind whirred as I imagined what it could be. Had my uncles done something to prevent me from entering? Did they know about my health issues and didn’t want a defective omega in their province?

“We’ll explain once we’re in private,” the woman said, her voice kind but firm.

My hand went to the door handle.

“Westin, no,” Liam growled.

“If this is the only way we’re getting in…” I turned to face my alphas and the three of them wore furious expressions. Gray’s scowl was so intense the beta woman took a step back. The two men with her looked unsettled as well.

“She should be safe,” Henry said carefully, but his firm grip on my hand told me he hated this as much as the others.

“Should be isn’t very comforting,” Bear snarled.

“If I refuse, what happens?” I asked the female agent.

“We have to do the interview in order to allow you entry,” she said.

Even though I hated the situation, I trusted this woman much more than the Luna agents. I moved to open my door, and suddenly, Bear and Gray were out of the car, keeping my door from opening. The two male agents shouted at them, raising their guns and telling them to get back in the car. My heart pounded so fast I thought it would explode out of my chest.

“Let me out,” I shouted, pushing at the door. When they refused to budge, I climbed over Henry and forced the driver’s side door open.

“I’m here,” I gasped, staring at the female agent.
