Chapter Eighteen

Caym

The pack and I start on our way back to the clubhouse. We might have been around and happy to help deal with the Rougarou, but the clean-up we would leave that for Jude and his pack. Besides, this is his land after all, he needs to be the one to make sure everything is back to normal. Tetra is with him, so I know that she is safe.

Always safe. She has to be.

She has conjured up a tea that she along with Jude and the others will give out to the townsfolk. It will erase their memory. At least that is the hope. In my experience there is always one who is immune to memory wipes.

I sit at the bar and just try to think about everything that has gone down today. I am not the only one though.

“Caym, brother, we have to hash this shit out because right now, this isn’t looking good for us.” Shax pulls out a chair and straddles it, his front to the back of the chair.

“Jadis was brought to Darvaza, not only is she a necromancer, but there is only one necromancer who could have transported her there.” Paimon said from across the room. “There is no way this is not Xirotia.”

“Don’t you think I fucking know that Paimon, for fuck’s sake, way to state the obvious.” I slam my hand down on the table in frustration. It’s one thing for random demons to make their way through portals into Earth. It happens. Lucifer gets to those that escape when he has the time. Xirotia is different, she has been trying to overthrow Lucifer for as long as I can remember, but so far, she has never been powerful enough to dethrone him. He keeps close tabs on her. I would bet money that our warden would be catching up with us shortly.

We have two options. Either we take Xirotia, one of the most-deadly necromancers ever created, head on and fight to the death. Or, we leave. My inner beast growls his displeasure at the last option. I can’t leave. I need to stay and fight no matter what.

“Do you think Tetra is going to find her parents? I mean they must have already known that Xirotia was going to come back. They couldn’t have really believed if they moved, she wouldn’t find them?” Shax says, but then puts a hand up and continues, “Then again they are Earth dwellers, yup, that is exactly what they thought. Dumbasses.” He laughs.

“What happens if Tetra gets in our way, I mean we may need to deal with Jadis, too. You know Tetra is not going to stand for that.” Paimon asks.

“She is a nuisance, honestly I wouldn’t mind killing them both and getting all of this over with.” Amon responds from near the bar.

I hear the table smash and feel the wind rushing through my hair, before I know what is going on, I am up and my hand is wrapped around Amon’s throat. “You won’t touch a hair on her head.
