Walking around the PINK store, I browsed through the many racks of clothes. I was looking for a couple of cute onesies for me and the girls because we were having a little girl’s night at Justice’s condo. We tried to do these at least once a month. A night of food, liquor, weed, and girl talk. Every time, I would go out and get us all matching pajamas.

The onesies were on the rack with the pajamas, and they sure had some cute ones. My eyes darted around the store as I opened the Aldo bag I had that was outlined with aluminum foil and started to throw onesies into the bag. Once I was satisfied that I would have all three of our sizes and a couple to sell, I closed the bag up then walked over to the panties. Shaking my head as if I was disappointed with the selection, I walked out of the store and out of the mall.

Boosting clothes was my thing. I could boost almost anything, and so far, I hadn’t been caught. I could afford what I wanted to buy, but this was the way that I made money. No, I wasn’t just your regular hood booster though, that you messaged on Facebook and I would get your baby five outfits from the mall. My clothes were all nice, name brand, and I didn’t take orders for anybody. You got what I could get. The shit I got was so nice though that there were never any complaints.

Getting into my 2016 white Malibu, I threw my bags in the passenger seat. Connecting my phone to the aux cord, Cardi B started to blast through the speakers.

Look, my bitches all bad, my niggas all real

I ride on his dick, in some big tall heels

Big fat checks, big large bills

Front, I'll flip like ten cartwheels

Opening the middle console, I pulled out an already rolled blunt of loud. As I drove from Eastview Mall, my mind wandered, and I started to think about my life. I had been through some shit, and I knew that I had some trust issues, but it definitely could have been worse. At only a couple of months old, I became a ward of the state. At least that’s what I was told.

My mother and father, or whoever dropped me off in front of a fire station in mid-September a couple of months after I was born. My social worker told me that I was wrapped in a pink blanket with a note that said to take care of me. Ever since then, I’ve been bounced around from foster home to foster home. As long as I can remember, that has been my life.

While in the system, a lot of the parents couldn’t afford to buy me nice clothes, or they just didn’t want to. That was where stealing came in at. One day, I went to the mall to see what I could get away with, and the rest was history.
