To cook: Preheat the oven to 400°F and place a baking sheet in the oven to preheat. Place the pie on the baking sheet and loosely cover with foil. Bake for 50 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling and the top is golden brown. To check if the pie has heated through, insert the blade of a small knife into the center of the pie. If the blade feels hot, the pie is ready. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Osso Buco Milanese Style

The traditional accompaniment to osso buco is a saffron risotto, Milanese style. I prefer a dish that can be made ahead such as a buttery Parmesan polenta, creamy mashed potatoes, or big pappardelle noodles to absorb all the hearty juices.
