Search for Personal Meaning

Sometimes leaders find the inspiration for their vision while trying to understand themselves in order to figure out what they want to do with their career. This happened to Kristin Sharpe and her husband. They worked for the same consulting firm early in their careers when they decided that they needed to make a change. Despite having successful careers, Sharpe says they “started to look for work with more personal meaning.”

They began searching for a way to make a difference in other peoples’ lives. Sharpe continues, “We quit our jobs and went sailing for a year to figure out what we wanted to do. We were pretty intentional that we wanted to use our skills and do something that also gave us personal satisfaction.”

She realized that she had to find a way to work with the Salesforce.com software that she had loved early in her career. Founding ACF Solutions, based in Reston, Virginia, allowed her to do just that. Sharpe, along with her husband, founded the company, which initially focused on providing consulting services and Salesforce implementation for telecom companies.
