The twins didn't argue about being brought home. Not when the streets of Acionna Harbor were crawling with Garda.

There were no humans in sight. They'd all been escorted home by the Garda, even though the Fae were still out.

They clustered in groups, muttering to themselves. Pixies perched on roofs, flapping from window to window to spread word, and more than a few eyes landed on our backs from balconies overhead.

Gwyn kept his arm around my shoulders, and I gripped his hand, holding the bloodied rag in place.

"Carabosse is going to start charging me extra if I keep bringing in my friends," I muttered, applying more pressure.

"No need." Gwyn flashed me a quick grin and unwrapped the rag. He showed me his palm: where the blood had been spilling down only moments before, the wound was now closed, the skin pink like it was a weeks-old scar instead of a cut made only minutes ago.

"At least we have proof all the cold iron is out of you." I threw the rag in a bin as we crossed the border from Acionna to Mothwing Falls.

I swallowed when we made it into the neighborhood district. Even here, the Fae were whispering to themselves. Shops were still open, and people were talking.

"Robin, what's happening here?" I whispered, dropping my voice so a satyr leaning against a wall and smoking wouldn't overhear me. "It seems like this just happened overnight."

Robin's blue eyes flashed towards the satyr as well. "Not here. We'll talk at my house."

When we arrived at our apartment, I hugged the twins.

"Lock up," I whispered in Clove's ear. "And if you hear anything else, let me know."

The selkies had been quiet all the way home. I guess it'd finally hit them how close we'd come to having the Unveiled Accords broken right in front of our eyes.

And there was nothing we could've done about it if Jack and Robin hadn't showed up right on time.

The twins jumped up the stairs two at a time, and when we heard the sound of the lock rattling into place, Jack held out his hands.

"All aboard," he said with a sigh.

Everyone grabbed onto his arms, and the snowstorm yanked us out of the streets.

We landed in the middle of Robin's living room. The fire was blazing in the hearth, and I had a pang of homesickness as soon as the warmth washed over me.

Weird how Robin's house almost felt like home now.

I brushed flecks of ice off my shoulders as I turned to Robin, who had gone to his desk and was dropping stacks of files in a drawer, hiding them from Jack and Gwyn’s sight. "Okay, now tell me what's going on. All this tension came out of nowhere. You told me that nobody else had found another manifesto lying around."

Robin braced his hands on the desk. "Well, we were wrong about that. While you were in Annwyn, two more copies were found. One was being carried by a human."

My heart thumped unevenly. Something in Robin's tone was off.
