Rice Flower Stitch

This, too, is a hitomezashi stitch chart, but you will first notice that none of the origin or termination points for any row touches the intersection of the grid; they start and stop just short of it. Your stitches are a tad bit smaller than the grid itself. The end result of this slightly shorter stitch is that your stitches don’t start or end in the same hole as any other stitch, making your final stitch pattern appear clean and even. The intersection around where the stitches point will create the optical illusion of being a dot or small circle.
