Ollie

It was chaos as scared, frightened people herded toward any escape. Fucking Ramsey. Only he’d be so stupid. Ollie held Riley close. He wasn’t about to lose her now after everything. Enduring whips and pain, and he’d have taken more, just to keep her. He yearned to just hold her. Inhale her. Convince himself she was there. Wishing he could blink and be home.

His bones ached and throbbed. Heart sputtered in his chest in painful bursts, trying to bury the beast down deep. It was pissed, craving blood and vengeance. He couldn’t afford to let it take hold. Again. He barely managed grasping at any lucidity killing her father. Bastard.

Pleading with the thing he’d kept under lock and key for centuries, he only wanted one moment with her. Give him one chance to hold her as himself. Begging the thing not to steal the moment from him. He gave into it to get her back. Now it needed to return the favor.

There was no happy in between with the thing. It was icy hot, fiery rage blazing through his veins with a vague control or complete control as the charming, passive man. It didn’t matter which though, both left him drained. Defeated. Muscles strained and burned. Body beaten by nothing but the animal inside of him. Like it took over and beat him into the ground until he had nothing left to fuel it.

But he had his Sweets, and he was taking her home.

He growled when they turned another corner, and there was no simple way out. Every stairwell packed, no matter the way Bastien took. Ollie eyed the elevator at the end of the hall. The power was still on. For now. Nobody else was going near them.

“The elevator.” He grunted, tugging Riley toward it. “Power still on. Any luck it’ll hold to the first floor?”

He wasn’t even sure how many floors the compound had or how far up they were. Plummeting to his death wasn’t how he wanted it all to end, but there was no way they were getting down the stairs.

“You want to walk right out the lobby?” Bastien asked, eyes wide. “Are you mad?”

“I clearly fucking am.” Ollie jabbed the down button of the elevator. “I did just walk in unarmed just to get to your sister. I’m sure there’s a measure of instability there.”

It wasn’t something to be proud of. The whole stunt was reckless and stupid. Lucien was going to have a lecture of epic proportions ready for him. He couldn’t think about it. Taking his girl and getting the hell out was his only goal. Bastien huffed as the doors opened and stepped inside.

“Said he loved you, Ang. Not that he was crazy too.”

Riley hugged a little closer. “He’s my kind of crazy.”

He wanted the comment to bother him, but he only smiled as he pressed the button to the lobby.

“Should meet my brothers,” Ollie said.

“Pretty sure I pass,” Bastien said.

Riley cleared her throat. “I want you to get Liddy, Mirena and Polly and come back to Sterling.
