I walked into my favorite bar in Colton, Licks, and went straight to the bartender. It was an unfamiliar face tonight but it didn’t stop me from ordering a honey bee. The sweet cocktail with rum just set me off right and an amaretto sour just wouldn’t do it tonight. I needed to let loose and by the time I got a couple of ‘em in me, I knew I would be good.

I felt a tap on the shoulder and was pleased to turn around and not see the doublemint twins I’ve been stuck around the past week. I smiled as I turned to Charley, who was rocking some loose stonewashed denim jeans with perfect cuts in them, a white tee, and leather jacket. She had become one of the only friends I had around my town. I didn’t even expect to see her tonight.

“Girl, I know you ain’t come back and not hit me up! What’s wrong with you?” She asked, the second we locked eyes.

“Malik girl. My bad. I’ll explain it all. You got a drink yet?”

“You know I do. Come over to my table. I have someone I want you to meet,” she smiled, wickedly.

I already knew what that meant coming from her. She was like me and always on the prowl. Sometimes more than I was. But this time when I glanced over, my damn heart skipped. I was staring at a God. He had to be.

His dark, chocolate skin glowed in the ambient setting. His medium locs were fresh and fell to his lower back. His brown eyes had a gold rim glow about them that I could see even from across the room. His strong jawline and trimmed short beard along it sent chills across my arms. His mustache into a goatee, sheesh. And those straight, white teeth just about floored me being attached to those thick, juicy lips. I couldn’t stop myself from staring.

His attire, though simple, in a fitted navy tee and dark jeans, his shoes and jewelry showed off his status. His one long, diamond and gold chain, gold watch, and diamond earrings, and a pinky ring that blinded my ass. Along with another chain that made my head quirk.

Oh yes, he’s the one.

“Girl, take your drink and pick up your damn face. You’re drooling,” Charley teased.

I simply ignored her but grabbed my drink anyway. I took a sip and the mystery man looked at me from across the room. Maybe he was in search of my girl but when he zoned in on me, he couldn’t move himself either. Shit. My eyes traveled along him then locked in on his necklace. It was a simple gold chain but the goldstone crystal that twined into it had me salivating.

It warded off bad energy and it was hard for me to come across. For me, that would only amplify my abilities and make me the strongest enchantress in the area. Malik wouldn’t even be able to stop me. I locked in on his eyes and smiled bashfully.
