It was after two in the morning when they stumbled into the loft. And he was drunk but probably not as drunk as Leah. Heâd had to practically carry her up the steps to his loft door, and sheâd leaned against the wall heavily, closing her eyes until he managed to get the door pushed open.
Immediately he kicked out of his shoes and she did the same. He headed into the kitchen, flicking on the light and pulled open the refrigerator. He took a bottle of water for himself and Leah, and was surprised to see her standing right behind him, assuming sheâd headed for the bedroom as she typically wouldâve.
âThank you,â she murmured, unscrewing the top and downing nearly half the bottle.
He leaned against the counter, his head swimming, and finished his. Sheâd leaned against the stove, and was watching him intently. She was so beautiful. Her hair was slightly mused, her make up nearly gone but damn. His eyes traveled over her in that dress that hugged her curves and she stepped forward. The tension between them was thick and Trevor inhaled deeply, her soft jasmine scent filling his space, and his arousal was instant. But he had to know.
âBrandonâ¦â His boyâs name was heavy leaving his lips. âDid yâall everâ¦â
She shook her head, instantly.
âWe never⦠no. Never.â
He studied her for a long moment, weighing the truthfulness of her words. Even in his alcohol induced state, his gut said Leah was lying to him. She blinked, looking down at the kitchen floor before raising her head again and meeting his eyes.
She closed the space between them, until she was standing directly in front of him. He looked down at her, his emotions conflicting. For a long second, they just stared at each other, both of their chests heaving. All of the shit between them was swimming in the air, in her eyes.
Slowly, she got up on her tip-toes and tilted her chin up, grabbing the bottom hem of his shirt for leverage. She paused, still not breaking his gaze. There was a question in her eyes, vulnerability beneath the liquor, as she stared at him. She wanted him to come to her.
Her lips parted and that was enough to break him. He leaned down, capturing her lips with his. Immediately, she hungrily pushed her tongue into his mouth, making a soft noise as she did so, leaning her curves against his body. The kiss was frantic, almost desperate, as if both of them were reaching for some kind of resolution, there in one anotherâs bodies. He yanked her by the hips more fully against him, his back bumping against the kitchen counter. His thoughts were muddled and stretched, aside from his desire for Leah. Always Leah.
He pushed the strap of her dress over one shoulder, biting the warm skin there and she moaned loudly, as she hurriedly pulled at his belt buckle, breathing heavily, biting on her bottom lip when she wasnât biting his. Her lips were parted, warm tufts of air brushing his skin as she panted in her eagerness.
