Chapter Twelve…

Blaze was picking KD up from school so he could spend the night at his house. He wanted to give Kay some time to herself while he spent some one on one time with his son. She had some event she had to attend for work anyway so it all worked out. Wanting to be a little selfish he requested that she come over after her event so they could talk about something’s. Shortly after the eventful night in her bedroom they tried to pretend that nothing had changed between them. Pretending was cool for a couple of days but now Blaze wanted some answers. Something wasn’t adding up. They shared that intimate morning in his guest bedroom once, plus some sensual embraces since then, but the buck stopped when he initiated intercourse.

“Kaydence, where the fuck are you?” Blaze barked through the cell phone.

“What’s wrong? Is something wrong with Kayson?”

“I’m not going to repeat my question.”

“Blaze I told you I had to go to an event with my boss and co-workers. Now what is wrong?”

“Where?”

“At the State House downtown. Why are you yelling at me?”

“Hang up, I am about to send you something.”

“What…”

“Hang up dammit.” Blaze forwarded the picture that was sent to him. He was beyond sick of the anonymous tips and secret messages aimed towards Kaydence.

“Yeah.” He answered his ringing phone when Kay called him back.

“Blaze that is my boss, whoever took that picture cut out his wife and the other workers in the office. Where did you get that picture from? Are you having me followed or something?”

“Don’t flatter yourself. And if I knew where they were coming from I would shoot whoever the messenger was. This is the second time Kay.” Blaze didn’t know if he wanted to believe her about him having a wife but at that point what else could he do? The crazy part was they weren’t even together this time and he still felt betrayed in some way.

“The second time for what?” Kay cut into his thoughts.

“Nothing. What time will you be done?”

“Technically I’m done now but since I didn’t drive I gotta wait until Dr. Jameson is done.”

“Why didn’t you drive?”

“We all carpooled and I didn’t feel comfortable letting other people ride in your car.”

“Tell your co-workers goodbye. Let’s go.”

“What?”

“I’m outside Kay. Let’s go!” He was going to get some answers out of her tonight.

“Okay, okay.” Blaze could hear her shuffling and then telling her boss she would see them next week. “I’m coming out now.”

“Alright.”

“Where is Kayson?”

“At Granny’s.”

Blaze kept driving until he reached his house in complete uncomfortable silence. Kay didn’t utter another word the entire drive. His guess would be that she was afraid of him in a way. Honestly he could care less about her being afraid of him, he knew he wouldn’t harm her in any way. Parking in the garage, opened the door leading into the house, and waited for Kay to walk in before him. Without a word mumbled from neither of them they took a seat in the living room.
