Parameters of the Job You Are interviewing for

What do you feel are the key requirements for the position? You can look back at your work history to see what you have done, but what might you be required to do, in the new job? Those are the topics that are most likely to be explored in the interview.

List the job’s requirements and environment as you understand them in the “Job Opening Outline” (see page 105) prior to the interview; you can add the missing elements to your list of questions to ask at the interview if they are not provided in the course of your discussion. Complete one of these outlines prior to each scheduled interview. For example, in “Technical Requirements,” list any software programs required (either as stated in the advertised job opening or from your research); in “Skills/Experience,” budgeting or supervising staff or customer service; in “Environment,” would you expect to work as part of a team or a group, or be on a one-to-one basis with clients?
