BELIZE WILDLIFE & REFERAL CLINIC

With a mission statement including the goals of establishing and managing a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic for wildlife and domestic animals in Belize, the Belize Wildlife & Referal Clinic provides educational opportunities and training for students, professionals and interested individuals. This nonprofit organization offers ongoing internships in wildlife medicine, rescue and rehabilitation. Internships focus on wildlife medicine, rescue and emergency medicine and conservation, and are designed to provide students with real-world experience while supporting wildlife rescue and conservation in the field. Some interns are pre-veterinary or animal science students, while others are veterinary students seeking clinical rotation credit in wildlife medicine.

Short-term internships ranging from two to six weeks for non-veterinary students are available for between BZ$1500 and BZ$2000 per week (including lodging, breakfasts and airport pick-up and drop-off). Various scholarships and work exchanges are available for students with genuine interest and skills, and the clinic is flexible and always interested in speaking with sincere potential interns and long-term volunteers.
