Chapter Six
âYou ready to go, dear?â Theresa asked her the next day. She was standing in the doorway of the office, her purse in one hand, car keys in the other. âWe really need to get a move on if we want to make it in time for your appointment.â
She was pulling on a light jacket and slipped her phone into her back pocket. âIâm as ready as Iâm going to get,â Eli told Theresa as she walked down the steps. âFrank is off doing⦠well, I have no idea what, so it looks like itâs just you and me today.â She grinned.
âOf course itâs just you and me. The groom doesnât get to see the dress before the wedding, itâs bad luck. Besides, we have those strapping lads from the DEA that will be following us around. A couple of them are damn pretty, too, if I do say so myself,â she said.
âOh yes, this is very true.â Eli caught the last part of Theresaâs words and grinned. âThey are rather attractive. Nowhere near as hot as Frank, but they are serious eye candy, thatâs for sure.â The men were very sexy, sweet as all get out, but they werenât her Frank, so they would never measure up.
âSo sayeth a woman madly in love,â Theresa teased with a grin. âAt least you can appreciate the beauty around you. Never lose sight of that, dear. No matter how in love you are, never feel bad for taking in the sights. Now, letâs get a move on. Maybe we can get that one to walk in front of us. Sean, I think his name is. His pants always mold so nicely to his tush.â
âRight, weâll make sure to ask him to walk in front of us.â She shook her head. Who would have known that Theresa Carver was such a connoisseur of fine male flesh? She did have a point. Sean could work jeans like nobodyâs business. If any jeans maker knew that he was giving their pants such a look, he would be rolling in the dough.
âI knew youâd understand my point of view,â Theresa said. Hooking her arm through Eliâs, she tugged her toward the main room where the agents were waiting for them. âHello, my dears, you are looking so fit today.â
âMaâam,â they all said to her.
âSean, would you be a darling and ensure that there are no bad guys between us and the vehicle, please?â Theresa asked in pure innocence.
âOf course, maâam.â Sean headed for the door.
Theresa squeezed Eliâs arm and wiggled her eyebrows.
Eli just laughed, she couldnât help it. When Sean turned to give them a questioning glance, she just dissolved into giggles. She looked at Theresa and nodded. âSeriously, someone needs to write his mom and dad and give thanks for his rock hard ass.â
âI think I should do that,â she said. âFrom one mother to another, or do you think that would be too creepy? Itâs so hard to tell these days what might be appropriate or not.
