Jack woke up groggy, and he seemed to be floating. He noticed he was once again shackled to a table but didn’t have the strength to resist. It was as if he were outside of his body looking in. The room was more brightly illuminated than the others and a tray of instruments to his right sparkled from reflected light.

There were several aliens in the room, all busy, as usual, attending several control panels and monitors. Another empty bed stood to his left accompanied by yet another like tray of instruments. He tried to focus to ask what was going on but faded away into unconsciousness.

When he awoke, his head was in a harness, totally restricting movement of any kind. He was as high as if he had drunk a case of Carta Blancas with a matching number of tequilas. He saw his reflection in the stainless ceiling. His head had been shaved and his cranium marked with red lines. He looked to his left as best he could and saw an alien whose head was also decorated with red lines. The aliens attending all now had coverings over their mouths. Fear surged through his body like a tidal wave but quickly ended as he rose into a bright white light and then disappeared.
