Chapter Eleven

ASPEN

After Cole left, I locked up the house and made my way over to my parent’s house. My heart was broken. For five years, I have loved this man, and he turns around and do this to me? I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around it all. Hearing Ivy call Cole’s name on the phone and staring in the face of their son, kept replaying over and over in my mind. I’d never hated anyone as much as I hated him at this moment.

Pulling up to my parent’s house, I was relieved to see that they were still up. It was almost nine at night, and they usually went to bed early. I tried to stop the tears from flowing as I made it to their doorstep and reached for my keys. I fumbled with the lock for a minute before I was able to get the door unlocked. When I walked inside, I was expecting the site before me.

“Oh, my God!” I screamed.

“Shit, Aspen! Ezra, cover yourself up!” My mother yelled.

She grabbed her robe and wrapped it around her before grabbing the remote to turn the music off. I did not know that my parents were freaks. My mother was in the middle of the living room, dressed in a red and green lingerie set, dancing. My father was butterball naked, sitting in his chair. For a split second, I’d forgotten the reason why I’d come here in the first place. As she and my father practically ran upstairs to their room, I sat down and stared around the room. They had whipped cream and strawberries laying on the coffee table. I didn’t want to think about what they’d planned to do with that.

“Aspen, why didn’t you call before you came?” My mother asked, rushing back downstairs. I could tell that she was still embarrassed.

“I just needed somebody to talk to,” I said, before bursting into tears.

“Aww, baby, what is wrong? Is it the job? Did you lose a patient?”

“No, ma. I lost my boyfriend.”

“What happened? Was he in an accident? Oh, my Lord. Where is my phone? I need to call and make sure he’s okay.”

“Ma, Cole is fine. I broke up with him. He has a son,” I told her.

Vomit rose up as I said that. A son. A fucking son! Cole really messed me up with this one. There was no coming back from this. How could he?

“What do you mean he has a son? Are you pregnant, Aspen?”

“Ma, no! Cole cheated on me, and now he has a six-month-old son.”

My mother wore a shocked expression on her face as I sat there and told her everything I had found out tonight. Down to Cole coming to the house and me telling him it was over. My heart was aching so bad.

“I know that nigga didn’t hurt my baby! I should go over there and beat his mother’s ass for pushing that slimeball head ass son of hers out of that dry ass coochie she calls herself having! Are you okay, baby?”

“No, ma.
