CHAPTER 10

SEVEN “SWIFT” REED

“Snow! It’s snowing!” I was fast asleep when Ro and Seveah came jumping on my bed. Everyday these kids woke up early as hell. I didn’t get how my brother, Leslie or Daisie did this waking up early thing every morning, but I was quickly getting with the program.

“Wake up daddy, let’s play in the snow!” Sitting up, I grabbed Seveah and pulled her close to me before I started tickling her. She laughed and moved around crazily.“Stop! You tickle me too much; I can’t stop laughing!” She giggled some more before I finally let her go.

“What you laughing at? You think I wasn’t gone get you too?” I said to Ro, as I picked him up and threw him over my shoulder. I ran to his room with him screaming put me down at the top of his lungs.

“Put him down daddy!” Seveah yelled chasing after us. She was beating on my legs the whole time. I couldn’t help but laugh. This was definitely something I could get used to.

“Get some clothes on so we can outside! Hurry up!” I said, leaving them to get their stuff together while I got mine. One thing about this Philly weather is it didn’t let up, especially during the wintertime. I was smart in packing more clothes than I thought I would originally need. I knew I would have to go to Florida soon to close out that chapter but for now I was staying here.

“We’re ready!” I could already hear them running down the hallway. Surprisingly they both did good picking out their clothes. I expected to see them still in their pajamas, not matching but they were bundled up perfectly.

Leading them outside, the first thing I did was grab some shovels. I know they probably thought we were about to play, but I was going to put them to work.

Although I had them shoveling the driveway, they were having the time of their lives. I had them shovel everything into big piles.

“Come on, let’s make a snowman.”

Using the big piles we shoveled, I worked on the base of the snowman while Ro worked on the second part and Seveah worked on the head.

“I’m going to find sticks,” Seveah said, the moment she was done working on his head.

“Come on man, add some snow to that and round it out.”

Doing as I said, Ro did exactly that. It didn’t take him long to get the perfect sized middle part.

“I need help!” He was trying to lift it up, but it was a little bit too heavy for him, so I gave him some assistance.

Seveah was able to easily place her piece on stop and some sticks in the arm.

“Mommy gave me these!” She put a carrot for the nose and used little marbles for the mouth and eyes.

“We’re finished!” Ro yelled, as he jumped around excitedly. Seveah grabbed his hands and started jumping with him.

Grabbing some snow, I made it into the perfect ball before launching it at Ro.
