Chapter Sixteen

Graham was stressed no doubt. Normally, he’d find a cutie with a big booty, but all he could think about was Audra, so he decided to beat his dick instead. He needed to get his shit together quick, fast, and in a hurry. Living with Speed was not the move. This nicca was secretive as fuck, and everyone knows a secretive nicca means he’s up to no good. The thing about it was he didn’t have a clue how he was going to get his life back on track.

After sulking, smoking weed, and lounging, it was time to face reality. He needed to follow up with the auto and home insurance claims. The representatives had been blowing his cell up, leaving message after message. Shit was so overwhelming that he had been pushing those calls to the side along with the one from the detective. The times that he did talk to the detective about the fire he didn’t know shit. Graham didn’t understand why he was still calling if he didn’t have an update on the case.

Then, there were the three bricks that he had in the kitchen that burned up with the house fire. That coke belonged to Audra’s brothers and they were bugging him about the drug. He had been stalling them, but eventually, he was going to have to face their asses, and it wasn’t going to be pretty.

“Fuck you mean, you can’t pay the claim. Ain’t that what you’re in business for?”

“Calm down, Mr. Elliot,” the claims adjuster insisted. “I know you’re mad, but your insurance lapsed. There is nothing more we can do.”

“That can’t be true. I paid that damn insurance!” Graham yelled into the phone.

“Mr. Elliot, please stop using profanity. Now, I understand you are upset, but my hands are tied. There is nothing more that can be done.”

Graham hung up and grabbed his laptop. He logged into his bank account online. He was determined to prove the customer service representative wrong. The money automatically came out of his account, so he was sure that it got paid. She was just a stupid ass cunt that might have been new on the job and doesn’t know how to read his account. He paid his premiums, and he was going to provide proof of it, so this bitch could eat her own words. He fired up a blunt while scrolling through the last two months of bank statements. When he’d realized that he hadn’t paid his auto or home insurance, he nearly had a heart attack. He forgot all about the account that he closed out and the new account that he’d opened up. He transferred over all of his bills, except for those two. Graham was so heated that he tossed his phone and began stomping out Speed’s living room table.

“Damn man! I just bought that table, shit.”

“Do you know that my insurance lapsed? Fuck!”

“Are you serious?”

Graham glared at Speed. “Nicca, why the fuck would I lie about some shit like that? Of course, I’m serious.
