Sometimes sexual images being sent around are of a person that has taken a sexual/nude photo or video of him/herself and then sent it to another person by phone or other electronic media.
What was meant as a photo for just that one person has then got into the hands of other people (accidently or deliberately) and that photo/video is then out there for anyone to see. The government has put laws in place to protect young people, which means that it’s a criminal offence for sexual photos/videos to be taken of young people who are under eighteen. So this type of image is taken very seriously, even if the young person has taken the picture or created the video themselves. Having an image like this on a phone, sending it to someone else, or posting it online are also potential criminal offences.
