9: Remi

It was the day of the Christmas party and I wasn’t in a festive mood. Since the day Nyx and I got into it over me handling street business things just haven’t been the same. We were still together and all of that but something seemed off. It was like he was with me yet he wasn’t with me. Whenever I tried to talk about business he would shoot me down and tell me to focus more on the beauty bar. We would start to ague but the argument would always end with us having mind blowing sex then going to sleep like nothing was wrong. The sex was amazing but I didn’t like how we were going about our problems. I wasn’t used to someone telling me what to do and I just did it. I was the one who called the shots and doing whatever I wanted. I had google somethings to figure out how we would make this relationship work because it was apparent we are both alphas. Everything that I read said that we would have to compromise, in my eyes that meant I would do what I wanted and Nyx was just gonna have to suck it up.

A Week was more than enough time for me to be around and tonight I was making my come back. I finally gave in and promoted Tahani to manager. Since I been doing nothing but trying to get the beauty bar back in order I had time to train Tahani and make sure she knew what she was doing. To my surprise she was a like a little Autumn. There was nothing like having the real Autumn but I would take Tahani for the time being.

Once again Autumn went back into hiding and it was like no one cared. My mother didn’t say shit about her and wouldn’t even let me mention Autumn’s name in her house. When I would ask Dreux what was going on he would just tell me that he was handling it. I wasn’t for being left out and I was honestly over the whole shit.

“Why you sitting there looking so evil?” Tahani questioned walking into the office.

“No reason. I’m just trying to figure some things out you know.”

“You know you can talk to me Remi. I may not be Autumn but I can understand the hustle and the toll it can take on you.”

“What you know about the hustle Tahani?”

“I know more than you think. Why do you think money is all I see? My mother wasn’t no queen pen or nothing like that but my brother is in the life. That’s actually why I moved to New York. He was so caught up in being the king of Atlanta that he didn’t care who his actions hurt.”

“Damn what happened.” Even though Tahani had been working with me for just about three years I never once asked her about her story. I wasn’t because I didn’t care I just didn’t like getting personal with people.
