Chapter Twelve

Haasan

My phone had been ringing for the last five minutes or so, but I thought I was dreaming. When I cracked my eyes open and saw my phone screen lit up, I grabbed it to see JD was calling me. I also noted that it was two in the damn morning.

“Wassup?” I answered groggily, rolling over so that I didn’t wake Sincere.

We had been in Miami for the last two days, and I was scheduled to head back to Virginia later today. While I wanted to be there for Sin as much as possible, I couldn’t neglect my own responsibilities as a parent. Trinity had a game that I swore to her I wasn’t going to miss. I was shocked as hell when Sin hit me up and asked if she could stay the night with me. We weren’t on any sexual shit, but I spent the night comforting her as best I could. It seemed to work because she fell asleep in the bed with me. Knowing she hadn’t slept since we touched down in Miami, I was happy to be able to provide her with a little peace.

“We got that nigga.”

I shot straight up. “Diego?”

“Hell yeah. Caught that bitch ass nigga trying to rob one of the stash spots in Opa-locka.”

“Where y’all at now? Did he have her son with him?” I asked, shaking Sincere awake.

“Nah, he wasn’t with him. We got him in the hole at Byrd’s spot,” he let me know.

J-Byrd was a great associate of mine in Miami that owned all types of businesses. He let me use his industrial sized warehouse whenever I or my team needed it, specifically for situations like this.

“Bet, we on the way,” I hung up and looked at Sin who was ice grilling me. “JD got Diego, but your son wasn’t with him.”

Her entire demeanor changed. “Oh my God.”

“That doesn’t mean anything though, ma. He could still be alive. Let’s just get over to the warehouse and see wassup,” I spoke calmly just to keep her calm.

She nodded and jumped out of the bed, and I did the same. Riding the elevator down to the lobby, I sent Fabe a text because I didn’t have time to try to wake him up. We got in my truck and rode in silence to the location that I’d visited many times. Sin was jumping out the car before I could even put it in park. Seeing this soft, vulnerable side of her let me know that she wasn’t as hard as she pretended to be. She had a heart, I just had to figure out how to get to it.

I met JD and his right hand, Dee, at the door before we all went inside and went to the basement part of the warehouse. Diego was tied up to a chair with his head held high like nothing was wrong. Sin punched the fuck out of him, sending a few teeth flying out of his mouth.

“Damn she hit hard as a bitch,” JD whispered to me.
