It only took a few hours to reach the secret base the Bakkarians had set up in Heritage City on Jestansaa. It was cleverly hidden in the heart of the city, right under the unsuspecting noses of the Bakkarian’s enemies. But they hadn’t gone without notice. Apparently the Confederation had been tracking them for weeks, gathering intel on all the enemy outposts. Ro had all the information at his fingertips, which meant Limarra would soon be safe, if everything went according to plan. Darajhe was too scared to believe it would be an easy extraction. Even Tio remained silent during the trip. Darajhe knew he was impatient to find his mate – however briefly he’d been joined to her sister.

The Cheetara remained in orbit above the planet and Ro tried to get Dara to remain safely onboard, but she refused. He or the other soldiers might need her healing abilities, and there was no way she would be left behind when her sister was somewhere down there! She followed the soldiers into the shuttle and took a seat next to Tio while Ro piloted the craft.

Darajhe peered at the viewer screen in awe as the shuttle approached the bustling city. Bustling was an understatement. Millions of people lived in Heritage City with its countless towering skyscrapers. Thousands of personal transports filled the air and the traffic flowed in fast moving layers from the top of the skyscrapers to the ground far below. It was dizzying how fast everything moved. Darajhe had never seen anything like it. She thought Sholla was a modern city but it was a small village compared to this metropolis. How would they ever find Limarra?

Ro easily maneuvered the shuttled into the flow of traffic. Darajhe sucked in her breath as a green transport nearly sideswiped them then darted away. “Have you ever seen anything like this?” she whispered to Tio.

“It’s insane, isn’t it?” he answered with a slight curve to his lip. Since Limarra’s kidnapping, Tio had become stoic and withdrawn. Darajhe knew they were a well-suited pair. She glanced toward Ro in the pilot’s seat. It was too bad he didn’t have Tio’s same level of commitment. He couldn’t wait to be rid of her.

“Can you sense her or any of the Shaunessey yet?”

Tio shook his head. “No, not yet. We’re not close enough. I just hope this is the right location. I trust the Confederation’s intel but the Bakkarians aren’t foolish. They’ll know we’re here and they’ll remove all the Shaunessey they’ve kidnapped.”

Darajhe hoped he was wrong. She knew he felt miserable without Limarra, especially after failing to protect her. She touched his hand but didn’t let her fingers linger. “We’ll find her, Tio. She’s already given you strength and you have a connection with her that can’t be broken. You will be reunited shortly.”

Ro parked the shuttle in a busy transport bay near the heart of the city. The Marauders quickly disembarked then lined up in a tidy formation. The soldiers earned a lot of attention.
