8 IF YOU SEE ME IN THAT MODE, DON’T DISTURB ME WHEN I’M WORKING – MEGAN THEE STALLION

“Are you sleepy?” Jay asked her once they’d finished one of the best dinners she’d ever had. Saadi was full and a little tipsy, but the night was young. She didn't want to leave if he didn't want to. This was the best birthday she'd ever had, and they hadn't done anything but ask each other a million questions. The fact that they were both equally intrigued with each other was what she called reciprocated mother fucking energy. Saadi wanted this every day if she could get it. His questions forced her to pause and think about them before giving any ole' answer.

She shook her head slowly. “It’s my birthday, I can stay up.”

Truth be told, she didn't want the night to end. Time stood still. The energy was right. The vibe was good.

Saadi hadn’t touched her phone since she arrived. She didn’t feel the need to take a picture or record a video because she was living in the moment – in real time. Everything was perfect.

“I’m happy to hear this. I have a surprise for you.”

He wiped his mouth with a damp black cloth that had been given to them after they were done with dinner.

“Is it the butter cake that I heard him mention was up next?”

Jay told her, “No, but that’s going to be good too.”

She was giddy all over. Saadi was a woman that appreciated the finer things in life, and butter cake was one of her favorite desserts. She wondered whether he knew that too. It seemed as if he'd had his eyes on her for a while.

“I’m excited.”

“Do you often have a sweet tooth?” Jay was interested in everything there was to know about her.

Was she a side sleeper?

What was her favorite thing to eat when her monthly was visiting?

When did she realize what she wanted to do with her life?

What was her Starbucks order?

Did she prefer a middle or side part?

Jay planned on getting all the tea from his future wife. He wouldn't tell her what he already knew. At least not yet.

“Every day, but I’m working on it.”

“Why?”

“I want to get this stomach gone," she said in a grouchy voice.

“I love it...I mean, I like it.”

They glanced at each other and then both innocently looked away.

What was happening? She thought to herself.

“Can I ask you a question?”

She lifted her glass to take another sip of liquid confidence. With this man...she didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t in a bad way. It was obvious that if things progressed, he would keep her on her toes. Well, that’s if he was consistent. She knew from being with Moo forever that men did all they could to get you, and then they dropped the ball as soon as you got comfortable for some reason.

Consistency was a love language. Although it sounded like something so simple, it wasn’t.

People generally struggled with being consistent, but she didn’t and wanted that in return.
