CHAPTER 19

Armani

“Nigga, don’t hit my bag that fuckin’ hard!” Wilde yelled from next to me. With a quick one two, I stopped and turned toward him. “The fuck is your problem now?”

“Nothing,” I mumbled, then turned my attention back to the bag. Side stepping the bag, I punched it a few more times, keeping in mind, my training in and out the ring.

“Then why the fuck you trying to bust my shit open?”

“It’s the bag or a nigga’s head; take your pick.” Another right, followed by two quick jabs, and I stepped back. “This fuckin’ girl got me messed up,” I said lowly. “A nigga ready to kill for her and she talkin’ about it’s temporary. I should knock her shit off.”

“Well, I’m glad I don’t have to ask twice.” Wilde laughed. I looked over at him and mugged. “Nigga, that look doesn’t scare me.” I stepped away from the bag and shook my head. “Tell me what happened. You hit my line saying you need to talk, but when I hit you back, it was crickets. Now you up in here, rockin’ my shit like you ready to go to war.”

“Shit, I am!” I replied, then went back to hitting the bag.

“Baby, tell me what’s going on, nigga?” Wilde stopped the moving punching bag from swinging side to side.

“I was feeling shorty more than she was feeling me, I guess.” I shrugged. “Now I’m trying to pull myself out of some shit because she as ruthless as they said.”

“Man, it can’t be that bad,” Wilde replied. “She must be somebody worth the shit if you been spending all your time with her.”

“Niggas was shooting at my car because of her last night,” I said, stepping around the bag and shaking my head. Wilde let out a low whistle and shook his head. “Exactly. Shit is a little crazy right now.”

“The fuck she got you into?” he questioned.

“Too much shit.” We sat on the bench, and I pulled off my first glove. Since my conversation with Monica hadn’t gone well this morning, I was still on the fence about telling Wilde about Khai’s involvement with Fresh and Monica’s past. “Crazy thing is, I was cool with that.” I let out a small laugh and ran my free hand over my face. “Baby Girl got me ready to go to war and not even think twice about it.”

“Then what’s the problem?” Wilde asked. “If you going to war, know you got back up. I’m always ready to roll out.”

“I’ll let you know,” I said.

“Let me just say this, though,” Wilde said before turning to walk away.

“What’s that?”

“If she got you in here ready to go to war, understand this shit means for life.” Wilde shrugged. “You said you wanted to walk away from the streets, and had been, but one incident and you right back in the life. Shorty worth it then, right?” I thought about what Wilde was asking. “Don’t lose what you been building for somebody that ain’t worth it.
