I was literally kicked in the gut when Ehsaas announced his entry into the party. He wasn’t here to celebrate my marriage; he was here to break it. He was here to take Purvi back.

I didn’t know they had such a painful past. I didn’t know what made him a cold-hearted bastard. The Shiv Purvi had described was someone kind, considerate, and selfless. I could only see arrogance, overconfidence, and a total prick in Ehsaas.

If he wanted Purvi, he just had to tell her the truth, but he didn’t do that. Instead, he made her hate him and tortured her thoughts. That meant he had some ulterior motive other than marrying Purvi. He wasn’t here just to marry my wife. He was here for Purvi and something else. He was more vicious than I’d thought.

“He has been watching us the whole night.” I grimaced and pulled Purvi closer.

She swayed along with me, ignoring him as well as my comment.

“Purvi, I think he’ll create a scene here at the party, and Dad is going to be so pissed.” My chest tightened and my stomach churned just at that thought.

I didn’t know how I always ended up on my dad’s shit list. First, he always looked up to Aryan Bhai and looked down on me. He was going to be enraged and done with me, hearing I married someone else’s fiancée. He might even disown me, stating the fact that I never lived up to his expectations. My dad was strict on principles, which he valued more than his sons, and I was so tired of always trying to please him when he despised me so much.

“Ahaan, there is nothing I can’t handle.” She placed her palm on my chest, feeling my rapid heartbeat. “Ehsaas won’t create a scene here. I promise. Just wait here and don’t panic if something happens.” She winked at me and turned to walk away.

Before I could ask her what she meant, my nephew, Rohan, came to me sniffling because one of the other kids broke his Pokemon watch. While I was busy trying to assure him I would buy him another, I heard someone yelling to call the doctor. After asking Rohan to stay put, I went in the direction of the chaos.

All the guests had gathered around a table. I pushed past them to see what the fuss was about. My eyes zoomed in on the sight before me and my heart skipped a beat. Ehsaas had an unconscious Purvi on his lap, and he was asking one of his bodyguards to call the doctor.

Purvi had gone for just a couple of minutes. She seemed perfectly fine when she left me. Did Ehsaas do something to her? Did he harm her?

If he did, he wouldn’t be sitting with her on his lap asking for the doctor to be called.

Shelving the thought of Ehsaas hurting her, I went ahead and took Purvi in my arms from a reluctant Ehsaas, who threw a murderous glare at me. “I’m taking her to our room.
