‘I thought so…well, I’m sure the woman will be nothing compared to Jeannie anyway. She’s lovely and such a friendly person. If this date woman is friends with Alison then I reckon she’ll be a nightmare!’

‘Oh don’t say that, honey! I have to spend a couple of hours with her tonight!’

Jenna chuckled. ‘What are we doing today Mum?’

‘What you like to do?’ I asked her.

‘I don’t know actually…’

‘Well you think about it then we’ll do it. Completely up to you-it’s your choice. We can spend the whole day together and then we’ve had us time before we do other stuff this evening.’

‘Okay. Well I’ll go and have a shower and think of somewhere nice to go,’ she told me.

‘Good plan. I’ll finish clearing up the kitchen but can be ready to go out soon.’

‘Great. I’ll be back soon!’ she called cheerily, almost skipping away down the corridor. I sighed happily, content with how lovely family life was right now. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like in Jeannie’s house at this very same time, trying to figure out the weekend while trying to please her partner and daughter at the same time.

I busied myself washing up and then wiping the counters down. When that was finished I got out the vacuum cleaner and rushed around cleaning up the floors. Finished, I headed upstairs. I took a shower and got dressed and ready for the day and as I was coming out of my room, Jenna appeared looking excitable.

‘Mum! Let’s go to the zoo!’

‘The zoo?’ I asked, surprised.

‘Yeah! We haven’t been there in ages!’ she exclaimed.

‘No we haven’t! Okay…the zoo it is!’ I smiled.

We headed down the stairs together and went out for the day.
