Chapter Six

“What about the bedrooms?” Devon asked as they sat around the dining room table the next morning, all staring down at the schematics of the main house Maddox had drawn up on his laptop. Despite the fact they had all lived, worked, bled and fought beside each other over the last few years, it was easy to forget these talented soldiers and second to none marksmen had a whole shit load of talents that had nothing to do with war. “I want to pretty much gut the master bedroom and bathroom. Hell, all of them probably need some updating.”

Riley Marksmen was coming with the plans for the facility, but they had yet to fill him in on what they wanted to be done to the main house. They had spent the morning drawing up a list of their goals and as soon as Devon mentioned the bedrooms, the conversation fell quiet. “What?”

“Well, LT,” Reaper’s Texan drawl thickened which told Dev that whatever he was about to say, it was going to be some smart ass comment. “Whatever you plan to do with the bedrooms, you might want to consider some soundproofing.”

The rest of the team snickered like school children and Devon frowned, missing the joke completely. They had discussed the need for sound proofing around the shooting range, but this was the first time anyone had mentioned it for the house itself.

“What the hell for?” His question met open laughter now, and he turned to a blushing Finn who rolled his eyes at him.

“Christ, Dev, you never were very good at translating smartass.” Finn sighed as he stood up and moved to stand beside him, placing a hand on his arm. “Glenn is telling us in a smart ass way that because of the age of this house, and how loud we were last night, they heard us when we were making love.”

Devon’s grin turned wicked with the realization, and he slid his arm around Devon’s waist to rest his hand on his opposite hip. “Oh that had nothing to do with the age of the house, baby, and everything to do with how fucking explosive we are together.” Devon took Finn’s mouth in a hard and intense kiss, not letting up until he moaned and softened completely against him.

He released his mouth and turned to his team, grinning. “Yeah, soundproofing sounds like a really good idea. Then Finn and I don’t have to try and be quiet all the damn time.” That sparked a round of jokes, jibes and smartass comments that had them all laughing.

“If you’re going to soundproof the rooms,” Sam added, pointing at Marcel, “make sure you add a double layer to his room. He snores like a fucking chainsaw.”

Marcel stood up quickly, no doubt to do something to Sam, but whatever it may have been was stopped short by the sound of a gunshot. The glass in the window opposite them shattered almost at the same time. Devon spun quickly, dragging Finn to the
