Chapter Eleven

I waited until Emrys was asleep before I headed up to the room. The note they’d left me was nice, but I would’ve been able to find Emrys anyway since I already had his blood in my system, and mine in his. Through that faint connection, I would’ve been able to sniff him out. But I appreciated that he made sure I knew where he was and that he and Tobias were safe.

It took a long time to tame the beast inside me so I felt I could be around him without threatening his life.

When I climbed into the bed, Emrys rolled in my direction immediately and wrapped his arms around me, pulling my back to his chest to spoon me. He pressed his lips to the back of my neck and muttered, “Missed you,” before a loud snore filled the room.

A small grin formed on my lips because he hadn’t been awake when he’d said that. Even in his sleep, he wanted to be close, and after the emotional night I’d had, it was nice to know I was wanted.

Closing my eyes, I settled into him and let my body relax for the first time in hours. Emrys tightened his hold on me, wrapped his leg over mine and enclosing me even further with his body and making me feel secure and cared for. The adrenaline of the day was long gone, and I fell asleep within minutes.
