The manager of the All-Star team shall be the manager of last year’s play-off winner, and the expenses of the players and participants shall be taken from the proceeds of the gate receipts, appropriate tokens or gifts for all participants to be purchased, with the remaining profits to be added to the league treasury.

In the event of a rain-out of the All-Star game, it was decided that the game would be cancelled with the league to bear all expenses involved.4

The 1952 All-Star Game proved to be a successful financial venture. More than $1250 was netted from the game which insured its repetition during the 1953 and 1954 seasons.5

Table 23 provides a listing of AAGBBL players elected to All-Star status. It also identifies those individuals chosen to receive the annual Player of the Year Award. Table 23 further reveals that several players selected for All-Star status earned the honor more than once. Among the prominent All-Star repeaters were those individuals who were named Player of the Year. These individuals’ backgrounds and performances are discussed in the following pages.
