Chapter Nine

Iyana left Keyz’s condo, frantically driving home after missing seven calls and four text messages from Elijah. Keyz, unbothered every time her cell phone chirped, never once questioned who was trying to get in touch with her. Instead, he buried his face deeper and deeper, drowning the sound out with her moans. Whenever she tried to take a peek at her cellphone, he would latch on to her sensitive nub, yielding her helpless under his spell. If that wasn’t enough, he would push her thighs back even more, knees touching the sides of her head, as he slid his tongue up and down her tunnel to her ass. It was like he was determined not to lose to whoever was calling her this late at night, now that he had her. By the time he was done, Iyana fell asleep on his chest, only waking up after he placed a warm wash cloth between her legs, cleaning her sore and swollen vagina. She walked out promising to call him when she got home, as he got ready for his day.

She’d admit that they never said they were exclusive or in love, but deep down she always had hope, wanting to give Ishmael a loving, two-parent home.

“Daddy!” Ishmael screamed, throwing his arms around Keyz who lightly shoved Myriah to the side to embrace his son.

“Dang, Ish. ‘Bout to knock your ole man down,” he said, ruffling his wild curls on top of his head before he kissed him on the forehead. “You good?”

Nodding his head yes, Keyz walked into the living room with Ishmael’s head tucked underneath his arm. It was times like these he was glad she kept the baby, because this was a time he wasn’t Keyz, the enforcer, one of the heads for C.U.B. He was just Kaizer Paul, father to Ishmael Paul. At 10, he expected him to be just a little taller given his own height by that age, but he was definitely going through a growth spurt since the last time he saw him. He smiled, looking at his soft, light brown eyes, wondering why his were so light, but understood genetics. Having never met Myriah’s family, he chalked
