Chapter Fifteen
The Fall of Adapa
It was 0538 when Harold woke with a start. He glanced fearfully at the bed across the room from him. His mind was in a turmoil. Dreams or not, these revelations were just too much for him to take in.
âIâve got to get out of here. I must be going mad. I need you, Helen,â he thought, as the door slid shut separating him from Melchizedek, King of Salem.
Harold washed and dressed as one in a stupor. He activated the console and ordered an early breakfast. As he ate, the voice of Melchizedek echoed and re-echoed through his mind. âRead againâponderâconsider. Read againâponderâconsiderâthe wheels of Elohimâwheelsâwheelsâthe glory of the LordâShekinah Gloryâpillar of fireâof cloudâread againâponderâconsider.â
Harold walked over to the book shelf and removed his Hebrew Bible. He pulled out a Hebrew lexicon and selected a book on exegesis of Hebrew words. Clearing a portion of his work table, he sat down.
âWhat am I doing?â he thought. âI should be working on Bluepaper. Why am I doing this?â He found himself opening the Bible to the first chapter of the book of Ezekiel. âAh, yes. The famous vision of Ezekiel. Most commentators dismiss it as a difficult passage to understand.â
âRead againâconsider anewâponderâsummarize essentialsâoutline.â The words of his dream pounded relentlessly in his mind as he read and reread the first chapter of Ezekiel. He closed his eyes. Something else was said. What was it? Oh yes.
Know that such events are interpreted and recorded within the context and through the limited knowledge, expressions, and languages of the particular culture involved.
Harold first wrote out a literal rendering of the passage in English. Then, he performed a careful exegesis of key descriptive words. Next, he outlined the vision of Ezekiel in summary form as if he were a modern reporter interviewing the ancient prophet. He felt strange, almost possessed. He was merely an observer of someone elseâs actions working through his own mind and fingers.
